Ideas For Fun First Dates

Finally getting that first date through online personals is nerve-racking on its own, but then you have the challenge of actually going on the first date. What if the chemistry you have online doesn’t translate well to the real world? What do you do if there’s an awkward silence? Does she think that doing dinner and a movie is cliche? (Spoiler alert for that question– yes, yes she does). These are some date ideas that aren’t only good ice breakers, they’re great ways to make first-time memories with your date.

Go to a sporting game. There’s a reason guys like going to games with their buddies besides the excitement of the game: it’s a great bonding experience. Cheering for your team is like working towards a common goal. You get to have a mini victory celebration every time your team does well, which enhances the excitement of the game and the date.

Teach her how to do something you’re good at. It’s a turn-on for girls to know that the person they’re with has a talent at something. Whether it’s putting together a car engine, playing pool or painting scenery, having a talent shows that you’re passionate about something, and women love passionate men.

Take a couples cooking class. You’d be surprised at how many towns have couples cooking classes. They last only about an hour or so, but that’s long enough to get the conversation going, and gives you something to concentrate on if you’re at a loss for words. When the class is done, you’ll both get the satisfaction of getting to taste something you made together, which is significant for a first date.

Take a yoga class. A little unconventional, but getting active can release endorphins that can be useful for the rest of the date. It’s a relaxing experience and will give the two of you something to talk about and bond over when the class is over.

Go bowling. Being able to let loose and have fun is what first dates are all about. Remember in high school when you used to take all your dates bowling because it was the only place besides the movies your mom would drop you off? Well, think about how fun those nights turned out to be. A little friendly competition can be invigorating, and gives you a great open door for contact when one of you does something well. There’s not much of a line between a congratulations high-five and a hug, so get physical!

First dates shouldn’t be pressured. When you’re doing any of these things, you have something to talk about besides your personal lives. This takes off the pressure and let’s you concentrate on each other instead of the fact it’s a date. Discuss things the two of you talked about online, find out what else you have in common, and enjoy your time together! After all, you’re both there for the same reason.
