Avoiding Online Peer Pressure

Avoiding Online Peer Pressure

We get a lot of questions from people regarding what they should and should’t be doing online. “He asked me to Skype, but I don’t really want to.” “She’s asking to start sexting. I’m really not comfortable with that…” “He wants to meet after only talking online once!” So how do you deal with these difficult situations?

The key to anything that makes you uncomfortable in your adult personals search is to simply do what does make you comfortable!

Learn to say no like Michael Scott.

Instincts are your best asset when trying to find a match online. Most of the time when you’re speaking with someone you have a bad feeling about, it’s because you should have a bad feeling about them. If you’re speaking with someone who you get a bad vibe from, jump ship. There are plenty of other fish in the online dating sea; you don’t need to worry about one that you voluntarily let get away.

If someone asks you to do something you’re not comfortable with, especially when it comes to invading your personal space and asking you to send pictures you don’t want to send, don’t be peer pressured into doing it! Most people think that peer pressure ends after high school, but any Internet dater can tell you that it continues online.

If you don’t want to do something, there’s a simple solution– don’t!
